Tips + Tricks

In 2025, I'm going back to my fantasy nostalgia gouache paintings and sculptures.

 

I'm lucky to have worked with amazing clients since starting freelance illustration in 2020. Client projects let me make a living from art, and that's an awesome thing to be able to do.

 

But, in 2025, I'm taking on fewer (never say never) client projects to develop my fine art career. I'm making personal work and selling it after, rather than getting hired to do client work.

 

That's a scary change because with client work, you never work for free. You never work without direction so it's hard to feel lost.

 

The total opposite of client work is making fine art and hoping to find an audience. I have to make work that will resonate with unknown people. There is no guaranteed buyer. 

 

So 2025 is about making pretty things and finding wonderful people who resonate with it. I look forward to meeting you all!
